Melissa + Bryan wedding

We had a fantastic time covering Melissa and Bryan’s wedding at St Paul’s United Methodist Church and the Omni Houston Hotel. One of my favorite treats is when a bride contracts the St Paul’s Choir to perform for her wedding ceremony, it really is magical. Melissa teaches kindergarden and has such a great bond with her current and past students that they and their parents were well in attendance. Floral decorations and bouquets provided by Wedding Flowers by Lisa while the cake was created by Who Made the Cake!

Kara + Ryan wedding

We sure did have a lot of fun shooting Kara and Ryan’s wedding! We started off at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in the Houston Museum  District and then headed over the Brennan’s of Houston where the guests danced the night away to the sounds of Buzz & the Blue Cats. Most of the guests were from out of state, so not only was it a beautiful wedding, it was also a reunion of sorts. The food was absolutely divine and they ended the night giving Brennan’s pralines to their guests as a sweet end of night treat.  Flower and linens provided by Plants N Petals while the cake was created by Who Made the Cake! The couple will reside in Houston and are currently on honeymoon in St. Lucia!

2012 NACE Houston Wedding Trends

Once again the Houston Chapter of NACE successfully hosted the 6th Annual Wedding Trends Event. This year the fete was held at the amazing Corinthian with catering by Jackson and Co. Laura and I are both members of the networking organization and have participated in capturing the event every year. This has become the single biggest event of the year for the Houston wedding industry to show off new and exciting trends.

This year’s guest presenter was the award winning, internationally acclaimed British wedding designer and coordinator Sarah Haywood.  Some of our guests registered for the VIP treatment which included pre event cocktails, hor d’oerves, a signed copy of her Wedding Bible Planner as well as an opportunity to have their photo taken with our guest.

With approximately 300 in attendance the Royal theme was well received. Stations included ceremony set up, cocktail reception, brunch setting, English tea setting, semi formal setting as well as a European formal setting. There was certainly was not a shortage of things to see, taste and of course drink.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding Cake

We were contacted by our friends at Who Made the Cake! to document one of their recent large cake requests. So how many people does it take to deliver and install such a massive creation? Well the answer on this occasion was nine. Check out this cake that stands itself at nearly 7 feet tall (not including the table) for a very unique Gypsy wedding. The logistics of removing the larger base from their shop required removal of a window not to mention several hands for assembly. The Grecian theme was carried out remarkably and contained amazing details. In addition to the main cake, they also produced 200 mini cakes that were placed at each place setting.

Liz + Adam wedding

Liz and Adam were married this past Saturday in an intimate ceremony near the family’s home.  The ceremony itself was in a private chapel imported and reassembled from France, originally built in the early 1700′s.  After the ceremony, the family retreated to Adam’s family home where they had transformed the basketball court into a fabulous ballroom. The space was transformed by the wonderful staff at Darryl and Company and Impressive Events. Guests dined on a delicious meal catered by Culinaire and then danced the night away. Videography services provided by Charlson Weddings.

The couple both attended  the University of Texas and chose to incorporate the colors into some of their lighting and decor and of course the grooms cake from Who Made the Cake! They were seen off by their friends not with a traditional petal toss but with custom made little basketballs as Adam  played for UT.  Adam and Liz will reside in Texas after they get back from their fabulous Italian honeymoon.
