Amy + Jason engagement

Ok, I have to say this. I LOVE the dog park over on Allen Parkway. I bring my puppy and kiddo over there all the time because it is pretty and a great place for them to run around. So when Amy, Jason and I were trying to think of a place to do their engagement session, they mentioned bringing along Lily, their amazing pooch and I thought…hey, we can totally go to the dog park…so it gave me an excuse to shoot somewhere I love, which is always fun.  Amy and Jason are an adorable couple and I can’t wait until their wedding!

Lindsey + Matt engagement session in Galveston

This Monday Laura met Lindsey and Matt down in Galveston for their engagement session. We started out around the Strand area and had a little bit of a walkabout and then we headed over to the beach. I had noticed a cool rocky area when i was down there the other day with my kids, so I knew we wanted go down there and also catch the beautiful colors of dusk while on the beach. These guys were so fun and such troopers! It was a bit windy and cold but we got some awesome photos for them. I can’t wait for their wedding!

Jen + Vinod engagement

This is one of my favorite engagement sessions ever, because I got to mix some of my fine art work in with my professional work.  I have been working on this series for a few years now and when Jennifer and Vinod mentioned that they might like to have something similar for their engagement session, I jumped on it! I have moved since I took the original photos, so for theirs I had to make a chalkboard wall, which I will eventually use to create more for the original series. In any case, check it out!

Chapel of St Basil

Normally I am all about the old, crumbling-down-looking churches. I won’t lie, something just is not aesthetically pleasing to me about most churches built from about 1950 on (unless they were built to look like an old church). However, this all changes with the Chapel of St. Basil on the University of St. Thomas campus. Something about this chapel’s austere and stark beauty just draws me in. The clean lines and bright white color just please my eyes. Often while there are two of us at a wedding there, one of us can sneak out for a minute and capture some of the beauty of the space, especially if there is a full mass. The chapel was designed by acclaimed architect Philip Johnson.

Enjoy Events at Warehouse Live

Last Friday evening we were asked to capture the set-up and decor of the Tyco Christmas party at Warehouse Live that was  organized and planned by Kat Creech and crew of Enjoy! Events. The party had a definite Texas theme going and looked like it was going to be a blast! Guests walked in to a giant welcome sign that had hundreds of margaritas waiting to quench their thirst. There was also a giant chili station for those who were hungry (biggest.bowl.of.chili.ever.) and some other yummy nosh going around. There was a band on stage, and if what I heard in the sound check was anything, the guests were in for a good time. The decor was very Texas tumbleweed and memorabilia and just looked awesome. Kat also had some sustainable centerpieces she made with the help of Buffy Scott of Imagine That!, who also supplied some of the event decor.

And of course there was the chocolate river…mmmmm…best.thing.ever. Cookies, pretzels, strawberries, rice crispy cakes…all surrounded by a flowing river of chocolate. Can you say yum?!

Imagine That! an awesome design company that we work with from time to time, hired us to capture their set-ups for the Spindletop Holiday Ball at the Westin Galleria this past Thursday evening. Buffy Scott, the owner and main designer for Imagine That! did not disappoint. She transformed the ballroom into a red and gold holiday wonderland!
