Houston, Texas Wedding and Portrait Photographer
We recently photographed Houston Center for Photography’s annual print auction at the Junior League of Houston. I always love participating in this event because there are so many gorgeous works of art to see, not to mention I get to work with a lot of friends in the Houston fine art photography community.
This first image is of Rick Wester auctioning off a set of three photographs by Keith Carter. So truly beautiful.
Last week Houston Center for Photography held their annual print auction and Laura was on hand to photograph some of the festivities. She also had a print in the auction, which was pretty exciting! This year was HCP’s 30th year serving the Houston photography community and the auction was a great success. Not only did they sell out for the first time ever, they also had record sales! Print sales alone were over $107,000 this year and the auction raised over 60% more than last year (which was also a huge success).
Thanks to Bevin Bering-Dubrowski, the auction committee and all of the staff and volunteers at HCP for making it what it is today!
Oh and by the way, Laura’s print went over by $100 of the asking price

Once a year, at the end of summer, the Houston Center for Photography hosts a party called Spin. This year they had the community come in and bring some of their vacation photos to show off to the crowd. There is always music, food and beverage and fun.

This past Thursday Laura was asked to document the Houston Center for Photography fine print auction. Over 80 pieces of fine art photography were donated to the center and auctioned off by the very entertaining Rick Wester of Rick Wester Fine Art in New York. The auction is HCP’s biggest fund raiser of the year and 100% of the proceeds go to support exhibitions, outreach programs, educational initiatives and the publication of their award-winning SPOT magazine. I am pleased to say this year they met their goal and raised over $80,000!
Artists that donated prints this include Rocky Schenk, Keith Carter, Michael Mazzeo, Will Michels, Amy Blakemore, Susan Burnstine, Fred Baldwin and Wendy Watriss and many other established and mid-career artists.
The auction was held for a third year in a row at the Junior League of Houston and floral decoration was provided by Bergner and Johnson.
