Recently we were contacted by one of our NACE colleagues to document some of Mélange Catering and Special Events holiday inspired tables. Harold had set up three uniquely different tables to highlight holiday designs for the upcoming season.

We had the pleasure of covering Lainey and Sam’s wedding which was held at St Lukes United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Rice University’s Cohen House. The festivities were wonderfully coordinated by Alia Rdissi of Belle of the Ball while entertainment for the evening was handled by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. The delicious brides cake as well as the grooms brownie tower were created by Susie’s Cakes and lighting was handled by Bright Star Productions. Floral arrangements, linens and reception decoration by Wedding Flowers by Lisa.

We had an fantastic time covering Millie and Lawson’s wedding. The ceremony was held at Grace Presbyterian Chapel with a reception following at the Houstonian’s Grand Ballroom. The events were wonderfully smooth due to coordination of Angela Nix. Plants N Petals transformed the ballroom as well as all of the florals while the bride’s cake was provided by Susie’s Cake & Confections. Mortensen Productions were on hand to video the event and entertainment was courtesy of the Eclipse Band.

We had the pleasure of covering Millie and Lawson’s rehearsal dinner which was held in the Juniper Room at the Houstonian Hotel. The festivity was coordinated by Angela Nix while the decorations and flowers were provided by Plants N Petals. The groom’s mother merged the influence from the brides family as well as her love of Audubon books of birds for the evenings theme. To top it off, music was provided by the Zydeco Dots. Video services provided by Richard Mortensen Productions. Perhaps due to one of our cooking stations tripping the hotel’s fire alarm required us to evacuate the ballroom temporarily just as the toasts were to begin. All was well and it just added one more memory to the fantastic wedding weekend for the couple.

Back in June we created Millie’s bridal portraits at her parents lovely home in Memorial. She grew up in this home since she was 5 so it obviously has several memories for her which made it a great location to add some of her latest milestones. Her wedding coordinator, Angela Nix, was on hand to assist with the session. The bridal bouquet was provided by Plants N’ Petals.

Once again I participated in the NACE Experience which this year was held at the New Orleans Marriott. Our Houston Chapter had a very busy and fun filled experience for three and a half days in the Big Easy. Some of our featured speakers included Simon T Bailey and local entrepreneur Chef John Besh. We were even greeted by the infamous 610 Stompers on the opening evening. So much to share so enjoy the images.
With the elections that were held during the conference, the National Board now features three members of our local chapter:
Lisa Hopkins with the Houstonian – President
Adam Rineer with the Westin Galleria – Secretary/Treasurer
Gary Baumann with the Royal Sonesta Hotel – Foundation President
In addition to all of the education and entertainment our local chapter was also recognized by winning several awards at the evening gala.
2011 Program of the Year – Houston Chapter’s 2011 Wedding Trends
2011 Student Member of the Year – Brittany Talavera, University of Houston
2011 Best Guest Table Presentation – Kathryn Creech, Enjoy Events
2012 Foundation of NACE Vince DeFinis Scholarship – Stephanie Truett, University of Houston
2011 Best Wedding Event of the Year – Lisa Carruth, BraeBurn Country Club
Congratulations to all and so happy for how well Houston was represented.

Once again we had another fantastic wedding for Lauren and Copeland. The ceremony was held at St Martins Episcopal Church with a reception at Houston Country Club. The festivities were coordinated by Jennifer Hobson with Keely Thorne Events, which included two bands, the first set by Louis Crapitto and the Cowboy Jazz Band followed by Eclipse for the remainder of the evening. The cakes were created by Marlene Romero while flowers were courtesy of Wedding Flowers by Lisa. Lighting by Bright Star Productions and a two piece jazz ensemble to end the night by Leo Polk.
The car for the departure was especially important to the the family as Lauren’s father had it recently restored. This same MG was owned by the brides father when her parents went on their first blind date. How special is that?!

We photographed Melissa’s bridal portrait back in May at the Junior League of Houston where she is having her wedding reception. She has another photographer from out of state covering her wedding and we were asked to handle her portrait session. She was wonderful to work with and had a great session. Bouquet by Wedding Flowers by Lisa.

Ginny and Drake were married this past Saturday in a fabulous wedding at Second Baptist Church on Woodway with a reception down the road at Houston Country Club. Susie Miller provided the flowers while entertainment was from the band, Sauce and the cakes were created by Marlene Romero.
They were such a pleasure to work with and get to know during the whole time we worked together. Ginny and Drake first met at school, where Drake was best friends with Ginny’s brother. They have been inseparable ever since. They are going to be honeymooning in South Africa for a few weeks, relaxing and possibly engaging in one of their hobbies, hunting. That gun pictured below was Ginny’s wedding gift to Drake! Congratulations you two!
