Laura got to go play at the Bridal Extravaganza and take photos for Rob and Jesus over at Events in Bloom. These guys always create the most amazing displays! This time around they had got a whole lot of new furniture and linens and of course they were showcasing the truly innovative floral design. New this year were some mirrored display cubes, swanky whiter leather chairs, some 60′s inspired wire bar stools, curved suede banquets and some swanky new lounge furniture, not to mention the sparkly silver ball chandeliers. So awesome!

This past Friday night Laura got to go play backstage and all around the House of Blues to take photos for Fried Ice Cream, a variety band we work with on a regular basis. It was pretty exciting, let me tell you. Not only are they a great band, but just the thought of all of the really awesome performers that have and will share that stage is just jaw dropping.
We were recently asked by Buffy Scott of Imagine That! to document her set up for a holiday party she designed at the Westin Oaks Galleria. The party had a James Bond theme going on, think “Casino Royale,” and she did a fantastic job on setting the scene. She had all of these fabulous cut outs that she had made of spy silhouettes, that really looked great. She also painted a really cool backdrop for the guests to have a photo opportunity as they walked into the casino party. I left well before the guests started to arrive, but I can only imagine what a great party this turned out to be!

We were recently hired by St. John’s School to document the architectural aspects and unique details of the campus for the Quadrangle, the school’s annual yearbook. We were honored to have been asked based on our attention to detail and vision.
If you are not familiar with St. John’s it is one of the leading private schools in Houston. If any of the images look vaguely familiar you might be surprised to learn that the campus was used as the school in the film, Rushmore, directed by a former St. John’s Alum, Wes Anderson.
We were recently contacted by Imagine That! to document the details as well as rooms shots for one of their charity events held at the Westin Galleria. As we just love to see what event planners and decorators are up to David jumped at the chance to document the company’s rendition of the Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night inspired environment created for this holiday event. Buffy’s company handled creating and coordinating everything from the draping, lighting, floral arrangements, backdrops and more. Happy Holidays!

Imagine That! Spindeltop Holiday Ball
Immediately after finishing Kat & Johnny’s wedding, David headed on over to Houston Country Club to honor a prior request by Rob with Events in Bloom to capture the ballroom before the guests were let in. This had to be a record time for getting the room shots and details. It certainly looked like a lovely wedding and David was glad to actually be home before midnight on a Saturday, in fact he was back at the studio and unloaded by 9:15pm.
While David was out of town, Laura got to play with the girls from Novalash again. This time we did a more fashion-oriented session with some really futuristic makeup. I think it looks like something from Cirque du Soleil.
This shoot was really good for exercising some creative muscles and playing with some of our new studio equipment.

Last weekend Rob Smith asked David to work his magic and document his latest wedding reception decor at River Oaks Country Club. While David actually had a weekend off he certainly did not mind getting to play and capture yet another fantastic Events In Bloom creation. It never ceases to amaze us as to what they come up with next. The custom candle screens, glass pedestals and their fashionable lounge furniture always add a fun touch. Also included is a beautiful bride’s cake by Cake Creations that Rob decorated with hydrangeas and orchids.
We have recently had several requests to see some of our albums. As you will notice, we use one of the finest album manufacturers around. Leather Craftsmen has been our exclusive album provider since 2004 and we could not be more pleased with their service and quality. While the solid black and brown top grade leather treatments are our standard, the more colorful ones are our newest studio samples of the Japanese Book Cloth that the company recently began offering. In fact a few of those featured here have been chosen for use by the company for samples to be shown all across the country at photography trade shows and conventions. Thanks again David Willis for your support and friendship.

Last week we had the opportunity to photograph this seasons cake samples for Bobbie’s Cake Creations. If you have never tried their cakes, you really are missing out, she has some of the tastiest in the business. Plus I bet you can’t even imagine how wonderful the studio smells right now! Dessert anyone?
